The Flyers Are a Mess: Breaking Down the Nightmare Start (PST Episode 688)
The Philadelphia Flyers’ start to the 2026-2027 has been a complete mess and disaster. Not one win on the season after four games played. This week, Ryan Gilbert from BroadStreetHockey.com and the Broad Street Hockey Podcast joined the show to break down this nightmare start of the Flyers regular season.
But first, Jeff and Erik got into some Eagles talk as Lane Johnson has now retired and Cam Jurgens was traded to the Ravens. What does this mean for the team and season moving forward? (Approx. 6:40)
From there, the guys dove into what this upcoming Phillies offseason may look like. Who might be the next manager of the team, and what might happen to core talent on this team? (Approx. 21:50)
The discussion then turned more positive to the Sixers as the preseason has started. We’re already seeing the Jaylen Brown and V.J. Edgecombe connection. (Approx. 33:30)
What they threw down on the Table this week was a great discussion with Ryan Gilbert from Broad Street Hockey about the horrendous start to the Flyers season. What should the realistic level of concern be for the team overall? How the “preset mindset” hurt the team right out of the gate. The defense has put this team in a terrible position. Who is to blame for this start, and can they right this ship? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (Approx. 45:30)
